This lovely house has a glorious setting, approached by a long romantic driveway,  passing the stables and Dower house, it then sits statuesquely amidst  lakes and parkland.

The house was built mainly in the 18th Century, remodelled in the 19th century, then again in the 20th Century by AMID.

Everything you see in these images and throughout the property was sourced and placed by AMID and carefully planned in throughout the restoration, we had great fun collecting all the pieces together, as we collected pieces we added them to our plans for each area.

The house had been neglected for some time and was in need of complete restoration.  The principal reception rooms all lead off a galleried Great Hall which is home to a rare museum of taxidermy birds in oak cabinets.   As part if our reconfiguration of rooms to suit modern family living, it was decided to move the Kitchen to the former billiard room in the centre of the hallway. This  necessitated working with English Heritage and Historic England, a lengthy process which allowed us time to really understand the family’s ultimate goal which was to ensure all parts of the house were utilised.

The former servants quarters and staff areas were reconfigured for use as leisure suite and utility areas

Finally we chose the colour ‘King’s Gold’ for the exterior, a lime wash historically used so buildings stand out against the backdrop of the countryside. The result is a wonderful much loved  family home which is perfect for country life and entertaining.
